I have a Taurus Raging Bull in .454 casull.
I am having a problem with scope rings not holding the scope in place.
It slips back under recoil.
Is there any rings recomended that can grip the scope good enough
for this heavy of caliber.
I have the taurus mount (weaver style.)

What type of rings do you have now? What make and model?

My brother has one too and we're having the same problem, his has MILLET rings on it (JUNK in my opinion, I have more than one set) but other here have said that it's the Taurus mount?

Put some liquid electrical tape between the rings and scope (degrease first). One brand name is Scotch-kote, I believe.....

A little goes a long way.

I like Millet rings but would not put them on a handgun. They are so precise that they will bottom out on about every scope I have used them on. My rifles have never had a problem, but Millets do not allow you to tighten enough for heavy recoil guns. For the heavy recoil guns I like Burris & Leupold rings.

Shot a set of Millet rings on a Ruger Super Redhawk in 44 mag with no problem. You might use some of the locktight designed to hold bearings and sleeves in place. Just a light brush coat on the part of the rings that contact the scope. This has worked well on several big bore rifles that had scope slip problems, i.e. 460 Weatherby for me.

Does SSK make their TSOB base and rings for a Raging Bull?

I know they work good for the harder hitting Contender and Encore barrels...

Three lapped rings and a pretty solid base...kinda pricey, though...

Why not just use the Weaver style mount by either B-Square or Weigand and use three Burris Z-Rings. There are a few notches and looks like you would be able to do this. I remember other bases like Leupold or Redfield for the Smiths had three rings on them. Just a thought. If you already have a multi notched base, just get yourself two good sets of Burris Z-rings and use three of them to mount the scope.

Sprinkle a little powdered rosin in both ring halves, it will hold nearly anything and give no problems removing it when the time comes.

In our case I don't belive that it's the scope sliding in the rings, I belive that its the base sliding on the rib, it's a Taurus mount, It was the only one ANYONE could find at the time.
And as for the Millet rings, it's the angle locks that fail, I tightened the screw on one so tight that the head poped off of the screw, I went to the local gun shop for a replacement screw they new it was a Millet and said that Millet sent them a bagie of 100 because LOTS of them were poping off like that! he said no charge, be carefull tightening them down.
Never busted a WEAVER!?
