Ammo is still availible for .32S&W, .32S&W Long. I would assume that you have a .32S&W Long? If so, you can shoot the shorts out of it no problem. In some revolvers, you can even shoot the .32autos out of it. Even so, the rim on the .32 auto is just a little too small for the extractor to work and you might have some problems with getting them out of the cylinder. If its just regular .32S&W, then I believe thats the short. I might be wrong, but I dont remember there being a shorter .32 than the regular .32S&W.

Don't really understand the question as stated. Do you mean you have an example cartridge which is headstamped REM-UMC .32 S&W? Or do you have a handgun manufactured by Remington marked Rem-UMC and chambered for .32 S&W?

In either case, both .32 S&W and .32 S&W Long are both still manufactured. The .32 S&W is a quite short cartridge, and shorter than the .32 S&W Long, but there is no such thing as .32 S&W Short. If you are looking for ammunition, then cartridges marked.32 S&W Long are not what you want if the gun is marked .32 S&W.

I know it sounds like beating a dead horse, but if you go into many gun stores today and ask for.32 S&W they will most likely give you .32 S&W Long since most people in gun stores today don't know the difference.

Here's the dimensions of the .32 S&W and .32 S&W Long.

The REM-UMC headstamp is the abbreviation for Remington - Union Metallic Cartridge. This headstamp was used from about 1912 to 1960.
