If you want a rock solid little .357 get one.. with some sort of shooting glove you can shoot most loads (Maybe not hundreds in a day). Order a spring kit form brownells. When you have the trigger assy out of the frame, resist the urge to pull the trigger.

Best o luck

It is nice to meet ya masonstaco,
I like mine. 125 to 170 grain seems to work best.
I don't choose loads for recoil. I choose them for on target.
It is a good revolver from my point of view.

Plink with light loads that equal 38 specials. I shoot a bunch from my Taurus Tracker 41 mag, just most of them are plinking loads. Just because it will handle hot loads does not mean you got to shoot it that way all the time.

Loaded to 850 fps with wadcutters makes a wonderful accurate load that is a hoot to shoot. When your in need of defense loads move up to the hot stuff.

I have a 3" SP and its absolutely great
A handful with full power .357 loads and a glove is suggested
Balance is very nice, strong as a bull!

you won't part with it once you shoot it!

These days the SP101 really isn't all that small or light for a .357. You should have no real trouble handling it. Now... if we're talking a Scandium-framed S&W J-frame , all bets are off!!

the 3" SP101 is a good solid accurate little revolver. Buddy of mine recently got one and I like it enough that I would like one. My wife likes it enough that she was thinking of trading in her preban KP89DC for one. I talked her out of that. Well, the trade at least. I think she should have the SP101. They aren't a full sized .357 like the Gp so there is a little more felt recoil with full power 158 grain loads but not so much that you should be worried about it. I put 25 rounds through the one without a shooting glove and was none the worse for wear. It didn't care for the 180 grain loads but the 158 and 125 shoot very nicely through it.
