I know that Winchester had a drastic reduction in quality in 1964, and that pre-64 models are highly sought after and getting pretty expensive.
My question: Practically, should I upgrade my post-64 Win 94 30-30 to a post-64 model? Mine shoots fine. If I'm not a purist, should I bother? I'm open for feedback and suggestions.

Yup, don't bother. If what you've got shoots OK stick with it. My suggestions on up-grading is to get into reloading if your not and shoot more.
Practically? No, they all shoot. ;)

Myself I never found any real diff between pre and post 64 other than the guys who have the PRE ones think it's a better gun. I've got a dozen or more on both sides of the fence and I love & shoot them all. 'Cept my .357-it won't feed well so that one's my "trailer queen" :)

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Keep your post 64 and pick up a pre 64 to go with it. They all shoot well if not abused or damaged. There is little functional difference between them.

Depends on which post-64 model you have. Rebounding hammers, safety's/lack of half cock, etc. are debatedly an "improvement". I've never seen a post-64 with a trigger as good as you generally find on a pre-64.
