My wife has a friend in the army that is stationed in Colorado and lives in fountain springs, i am not exactly sure where in CO that is, but we are planning on going out to visit and I figure I might as well get some western hunting done. I definately want to hunt some p-dogs and I would like to know what else is available to hunt, also what time of the year are different seasons

I think she is stationed at Ft. Carson, looking at Google Earth, I think my wife may have meant to tell me, Fountain, CO, south of Colorado Springs. Since Fort Carson is between Colorado Springs and Fountain.

jb, if you had asked for hunting in that area back in the 50's I could have helped you out. As it is, I didn't even recognize any of the area south of Colorado Springs to Raton NM the last time I went through on the way to Denver. Used to be a lot of good hunting just south of Colorado Springs, and plenty of good fishing around Manitou Springs.

Try looking for just Fountain CO.
Fountain is almost a suburb of Colorado Springs..
It and Ft. Carson...
Unfortunately Prarie dogs are now protected on public property in Colorado...If you can get permission on private property its O.K. to hunt them...

Jb..

I'll try to get some contact info to you form a PD shoot.. BUT It would be ~3-4 hour drive from there. Let me know I ya still want me to get it to you. Also, If ya give me an Idea of when, I can look to see what will be in season and try to recommend some other places...

Another easier option might be Coyote.. Just head west into National Forest and try some calling (I haven't done this my self, I know it's legal most of the year, but not sure what the success would be like).

Let me know, best o luck

Nate
