I'm just about out of 777. Im thinking of trying Jim Shockey's Gold. I understand it is the old Clear Shot. Anybody got any experience with it? My T/C G2 .45 is very tight, and I can get only one shot before running several patches thru before loading again. I'm sorta hoping it is cleaner burning...

Similar to the old clean shot powder, but delivers more of a punch; velocities will be a bit better than pyrodex. I use regular APP and clean every couple of shots with 1wet and 1dry patch so accuracy keeps consistent.

I'm glad to hear that the APP Gold is similar to the old Clear Shot. I have ML licenses for both Deer and Elk in CO this year and am about to try to improve on my recipes for my TC Omega and TC Renegade. I don't care for real black powder because of the residue. My TC Renegade shoots well with blackpowder, but doesn't seem to care for pyrodex (after the 3rd misfire at muleys while using Pyrodex several years ago) I decided to get the Omega for the more reliable ignition with shotgun primers (even though I'm philisophically opposed to allowing in-lines in what should be a "primitive" season). My TC Omega did OK with the Pyrodex, but really liked the Clear Shot - and I liked the ease of cleaning when using Clear Shot. After the Clear Shot became unavailable, I bought a can of 777 to try, but have not yet tried it. During the next month I'll try a comparison of the 5 powders (I still have a small amount of Clear Shot) with "Power Belt" bullets to decide what to use for hunting in September. I don't recall Power Belts being available the last time I hunted with a muzzleloader - the maxiballs worked fine, but my impression is that the Power Belts are more accurate in my rifles.
