Hi again,

Just sourced a Walther P1 (Post War P38) for the right kind of money. I would like to know what to expect with this Pistol. What are the pro's and con's?
Are they accurate? reliable? I know they only hold 8 rounds, but this is not a problem.

Thanks in advance

They are good pistols. The P38 was the first major DA pistol adopted by a major military. I've owned the P1 and P4 versions and never experienced any major problems. Mine seem to like JHPs (no problems feeding). Did qualify with a P1 in Germany with the Bundeswehr. Only problems seemed to be with the plastic double recoil spring guides, had one broke before. My P4's rear sight did come loose once when shooting 1000 rds in one afternoon but tighten that right up (different from P1/P38). The are a good servicable pistol, congrats on your purchase.

Combat Diver,

Good to hear from you again! I haven't seen any posts from you in a long time. I hoped that nothing bad had happened.

Kryten,

I've wanted to add a Nazi marked P-38 to the collection for a long time. I just haven't happened to stumble upon one at the right price at the right time so far. Someday...

I don't have any first hand experience with P-1's, but I do remember reading about some of those aluminum frame models cracking. Maybe Combat Diver or some other member could shed some light on this subject.
