At what serial number is a M94 considered pre-64?

I think it's 2,500,000, but I would like one of the real Winchester fans to confirm that.

Even easier is to look at the front end of the lever link, the part that comes down with the lever when it is opened. If there is a screw in the center that holds the pin in it is a pre '64. No screw, post '64.

2,586,000 last of the 63's

The 1965's started at 2,750,000

I forget the 64 numbers

No sir, that's not correct. The link pin retaining screw was reintroduced in 1991.

2,600,011 is believed to be the last of the pre-64s. 2,700,000 is the first of the post-64s.

2,586,000 last of the 63's
The changes to the Model 94 did not occur until mid-1964 though, not in January of '64.

The 1965's started at 2,750,000
The model year 1965 started at 2797429.

DLS,

That may very well be correct , but by 1991 the guns also had the added safety which is a dead giveaway. The only question would be between 1964 and 1991, and this is still the easiest way to tell them apart. Anyone knowing the intimate details of the '94 can literally tell the difference across the room!

The CBS was added in 1992.

True, but most aren't though.
