After clearing the rifle, you can remove the magazine through the reciever. Take down the reciever and remove the forearm and inner magazine tube. there will be a detent button on the carrier so that you can romove the carrier and mag. tube from the reciever.
You will note a screw, maybe two (I can't recall for sure), on the carrier as a retainer for the mag. tube. The tube is usually very tight in the carrier and may need to be soaked and worked out.
The Rem. mod. 12's I have worked have a problem with rounds hanging between the carrier and the reciever. there are a couple of different magazine legnths listed for these rifles.
Good Luck, Alan
