Looking for a good spot to hunt elk within an hour's drive of Vancouver, WA. I've lived over on the west side for 15 years, but have continued to hunt "east" with old buddies. Two of the old crew are gone, my last partner is working too hard, and my son can't get away from college this year.
And due to an auto injury, I'm not up to the work of loading my rig and setting up a camp over the mountains in my old area by myself. Puts me on my own for the first time, so I want to stay close to home this year.
Was wondering if there were any areas a guy could hunt from home? Arriving before first light without having to drive all night long.
A reasonable chance of seeing elk would be a bonus!
Thanks
