View Full Version : 336 hard to close
As the lever starts its closing motion, the end of the lever has to depress and pass over the spring loaded "carrier rocker". This seems excessively hard to me. This is a nearly brand new rifle and I haven't owned another 336 so I don't know if it is typical.
Will it get better?
Is this the way they are?
Otherwise, what's the fix?
Ken,
The bolt also has to ride over the trigger. There is a small (bump) on the underside of the bolt. Check it out as sometimes that is a problem for folks.
Dave
No, at first I thought it was the ejector because it hangs up exactly when the bolt hits it. Took the ejector out and tried it then took the bolt out. Either/or in or out makes no difference. I am almost positive it is the spring loaded rocker on the carrier. I guess I will take it apart tomorrow and see what I can see.
