The receiver is not drilled or tapped for either a receiver sight or a scope mount. This will be a gunsmithing job for your local gunsmith. I have a Stainless Steel model, and it is just as accurate as my original Winchester, which by the way had neither a receiver sight or Scope mountings either. Since I prefer the receiver sights, I used a Williams and drilled and tapped the receiver myself. Depending on where you live, and how good a terms your are on with your local smith, it can cost anywhere from $ 15.00 to $ 35.00 per hole drilled and tapped plus the cost of the sight. (2 holes for the receiver sight, and 4 holes for scope sight bases.)
By the way, I prefer the fit and feel as well as the weight and ballance of the model 63 over my Ruger 10-22.

The one at hand is blued...and a nice blue job it is, may be the best polishing/blue job I've seen from Taurus.
Taurus makes an inexpensive tang peep sight...it's not a bad choice. Does tend to a little slack in the vertical staff...but once sighted in, can mark it...screw it up so more thread is exposed..wrap it in plumber's tape,,,run it back down...trimm off the excess that sticks up. This takes the slack out and still makes elevation adjustments smooth and easy. Windage adjustments haven't been any truble.
only down side is that the sight doesn't look 100% period...still looks like a tang sight, but it doesn't look quite like a Marbles or a Lyman (and costs about 1/3 as much).
Only other problem seems to be taht the muzzle crown is sometimes a bit rough...but that's also a home-fix if it's needed. Test first, some rifles shoot just fine as issued.

Spent a little time redoing the stock, expeimenting with various stains...eventaully came up with a good a tch to the old Winchester-red look. Makes for a pretty rifle.

The last ones out of Winchester's door were gooved for scope mounting...but the early Winchesters and teh Taurus-repro aren't. Going to have to drill it and tap it if you have to have a scope sight. (not too horrible..have seen several originals that were drilled and tapped, so it won;t look all that odd.)
