Folks,
My favorite gun shop has .17 caliber rifles by Savage and Marlin on sale and I set a .17 Mach II Marlin back until payday. Seems sales are dismal and much worse than flat. The shop cannot move these rifles and is taking a loss to get rid of them. I sure hope the .17 Mach II does not go the route of the 5mm Remington. I may have to pass on this rifle. All the best...

The .17 has not found faver in this house Gill Martin. Price of ammo has most of my concern!
I think it is a well thought out round! Problem for me is, once i have gotten past the perfomance a .22 long rifle, I look to the centerfires.
I am wrong on many things. I prefer the .410 mag to the .429 mag! I also like .45 better than .40, 16 gauge more than 20, etc.

Me thinks you will end up with a fine rifle in the end :) . The fun is in the shooting.

I've gotta go with cheezy on this one. Once past the 22lr I'm looking for a center fire. Just picked up one of the new CZ 527 varmiter's in 204 Ruger.

Again the price of ammo comes pretty close to what I can reload for and the reloading in itself is a fun thing for me to do.

You might take a look at those little CZ's even in a 22 hornet you can get the same ballistics as the hottest 22 Rimfires and they are really inexpensive to shoot if you load.
