I have an older T/C Contender frame (forward pivot pin) I recently picked up at a gun show that has a couple of grooves cut on the fingers that push the safety slide up. They aren't too deep, but will need to be filled.
So the question is: What kind of steel is the trigger gaurd made of? Is it case hardened mild steel or is it oil or water hardening steel? I can do the fill if I can find out what it is, and I will need to heat treat it afterward.
It is old enough that it is highly unlikely T/C will fix it at any price, even if they have anybody left that knows what it is.
thanks.
