Well I bought a used 336 from a buddy of mine, it's the first rifle that I have personally owned, though I've been shooting for a good part of my life. I'm not familiar with the technical terms for all the parts, but I'll try to explain the problem I've fired it on a few occasions with no problems, but last time I took it out it started jamming up. After a little investigation, I saw that the door where you load the rounds was not staying closed like it should and when you tried to cock the rifle the round would be stopped by the door and not go into the chamber. I took the rifle apart and saw that the tiny screw that holds the feed cover in place was broken and part of it was missing.

I've tried going to a couple different gunsmiths and no one has the screw that I need. Does anyone know where I might be able to find one? And how much should I expect to pay for one?

Welcome to the forum.

You didn't mention which 336 you have, but here is a link for you. All the screws should be the same no matter the model. I believe the part you looking for is #43 on the list.

Chinook,
Like many people out there My first rifle was a Marlin 336 .30-30. and even though I now have quite a few other rifles have I have to say that the marlin remains my favorite. I guess it's the cowboy in me or maybe because it was my first but I love it. In the past year I started improving it because I wanted to get some better accuracy. I have upraded from the Bushnel Sportview 4X scope to a nicer 3X9X40 Simmons Prohunter, a Wildwest trigger, and a Pachmyre buttpad. Also I started reloading my own ammo. All this has increased my enjoyment of this old classic not to mention the increased accuracy (3/4 inch groups @100 yd grps). Not all my shots are that good and I still have a long way to go when it comes to shooting it off my shoulder (without a rest). I hope yours gives you years of shooting fun.
Gismo thanks for the link to gunparts I'll finally replace my Bullseye.

No problem James. I bet if you just call Marlin and tell them your bullseye is missing, they will send you one at little or maybe even no cost. I just picked up a 336 in 30-30 and it is missing the bullseye also. I will give Marlin a call in a couple of days and see what they say.
