Can anybody tell me what the difference is between a 336 and a 30AS?
I have one of those but can not find out what the difference is between a 336. The 30AS is also a 30-30 caliber
It seems to me like they are identical. But there has to be something otherwise why come up with a different number like 30AS?

The 30AS is the plain jane version of the 336 they market to big box stores and discount houses.
As far as I know, mechanically they are the same.

Thanks!
I would have never guessed Marlin would make a different model number for big stores like that.
It is my favorite rifle. Bought it at a gunshow.
