I'm kinda' ticked-off, so I wanted to get this off my chest....
My 1894CL .32-20 got inflicted with the dreaded Marlin jam....timing is "off" and it is "letting in 2". Carrier assembly and lever are "grooved". I called Marlin to see if they would ship me a new carrier and finger lever, but they said that these parts are "restricted" and I needed to have a FFL to order them or send it in to Marlin for the fix. I don't have a FFL; so, will have to spend the time & expense to ship to Marlin. Why the heck would the carrier & lever be restricted? What's next....will we need FFL's to order a replacement buttstock bullseye in the future?
Best,
Dan

The restriction is company policy. Not sure about the lever, and you shouldn't need it anyway as a new carrier should fix the problem. The carrier can be bought from Brownells, the last I got was about $45 as I recall. Marlin also may not have had the restriction then.
Some parts invlove safety issues. You think Marlin is bad, try getting anything more than a grip screw from Ruger! (A little hyperbole, but not much)

Thanks, Alk8944,
It just gripes me to pay for a known & recognized factory defect.
I like my 336's, 444's and 1895; I'll never buy a 1894 again.
Thanks,
Dan

The button fell off the carrier on our .32-20 also. I waited too long to order and now Borwnells is out of stock - or at least I cannot find the part on the web site.
I live pretty far out of twon and it is a MAJOR hassle to ship a firearm to the manufacturer. I liked the .32-20 until this happend. My wife still likes it fine. She shoots it single shot and has a great time.

The link below describes filling in the groove on the carrier with a welder and grinding it flat. If getting a new carrier is going to be a big deal then it might not be a bad option. I can't understand why they don't fix this problem at the factory. http://marauder.homestead.com/files/marlin94fix.html

Just wanted to leave some positive feedback.....
I brought the 1894CL to the Marlin factory in North Haven. They had it fixed within a week & I pick it up Monday. I don't know what they did to it, but they fixed it at no charge!
Yeehaw!
