Took a run up on the praire today looking for yotes and also checking out some places I hunt deer. No coyotes but saw one bob cat and while coming around one of the field edges on a small draw I've been hunting since I was fifteen my grand daughter found a nice four point buck standing about a third of the way up the side of this fifty or sixty foot draw.

We stopped and watched it thru the binocs for about 15 minutes before it decided that at about 85 yards it was just to much on an intrusion. When it started to leave a much bigger five pointer stood up right beside it and up into the field and over the hill they went. We never even saw the bigger buck bedded just a few feet from the smaller one.

What a thrill for the grand daughter. She's decided the big one is hers. Of all the days I didn't bring the camera.

Any way now we've got to go get her deer tag this weekend.

Sounds like a good day in the field with some "top shelf" company.

I did the lawn mow thing today. Maybe the last of the season. The soybean field next to me has been picked so I now have a clear view to the south and west. It was a nice cool morning to do it and I found myself hunting from a lawn tractor. Thought occured to me that I now have room to let the center fire rifles stretch thier legs again. Out to about 350 yards anyway.
