This winter brings up another investment. Looking into the Rimrock as they offer the P-17 inletting, quite close to what this Rem. Mod. 30 is.

Having this controversial reboring from the .06 to the .338-06 and rechambering and other various work, cock on opening, Timney trigger, silver soldered the keyway in front barrel where the military style banded sight mounted a NECG ramp with FiberOptic and bought a Redfield 70R rear peep--couldn't locate a Lyman 48R. Base holes tapped and threaded for the Talley bases, receiver required front bases both fore and aft.

Just had to share what is going on with my favorite project to date. Could have gone to any chambering I wanted to on this receiver but settled for the ever loving chambering that rivals the mid velocities as the .35 Wh, the 9.3 x 62 etc... that successfully kills cleanly and effectively.

What is with the Rimrock and how well do you like it and is it worth the money? Rigidity?

thanks,

Are they still made? I thought Jim Borden quit the stock biz. But I only base this on seeing him shoot a new gun at a recent match and the gun had a Speedy BRX stock, not one of his own.

By golly! They are still in business. Talked to Joan 30 min. back and they have the p-17 unfinished blank for 195.00

Since Rem. straightened out the belly this now holds 5 down instead of 6 rounds. That should presumably be the only different in the Enfield pattern of the mold. What exactly would I have to do in order to get this to fit my barreled action? Seems like I would have to sand down the belly and would the floorplate hinge be the same as the enfield or would you expect that to differ from what I have as well?

They can do a fit by having the barreled action but for 595.00 I don't believe I am in that kind of hurry. Comes fitted with swivel studs and a Pach Decel. recoil pad.

Need your guys help here before I place a order. This rifle has just come back from Jim and I say he does nice work for sure. Feel free to help.

thanks,
Tim

The only changes Remington did for the M30 was to eliminate the rear sight ears on the bridge and slick up the action contours a bit. Don't think they messed with the triggerguard and magazine housing any. The magazine well was probably shortened to the 5-round configuration.

I'm not familiar with Rimrock stocks, so can't advise what you may have to do to the underside.

kdub, that sounds good, you're obvious experience in sorting out the difference has a good feeling about this :D I mentioned to Joan that the overall configuration of there stock should work but that was not being entirely confident without actually seeing the stock.

I will make the call- it is only 195.00 and now suspect as you mentioned it should work. I will keep you informed and share with you my new experience or relationship with this wonderful rifle.

thanks,
