hey guys, i turn 18 in one week, and i have decided that i am going to by myself my own .22 (all my others belonged to my father) the reason i say .22 is because they are cheap to shoot, and they dont allow any larger in my state forest.. now my question is.. is this a good gun? and how fast does it "auto load" because i have a very quick finger that i have aquired from pistol shooting, and i was wondering if it can keep up with me.. thanks in advanced!
also if i run into a black bear or a wolf while squirrl huntin.. i know this is a stupid question but can a 4-5 shots (maybe even 14, depending on how many are left in the gun heh) from a .22 long rifle take one down? or at least injure it so it cant try to kill me? same ? goes for wolf..

Welcome to the forum rollinranger99. Rules are simple, be nice and join in.
The little Marlin's are dandy starter guns. I don't know about how fast they'll fire, but will probably keep up with your ability to hit things accurately.
I'd check out your game regulations as far as bear and wolf are concerned. Most states regulate bear hunting and at least out west here require a tag and have seasons. They also regulate the caliber of rifles used and no big game may be taken with a rimfire. Wolves in our state are protected and can only be killed if attacking livestock.
As far as protection on the rare chance that you might be attacked any gun is better than no gun at all. Just be prepared to explain the cercumstances to a game management officer if you do have to defend yourself.
Though the wolves are new to Idaho and protected We've only had a few instances of folks reported feeling threatened by them. As for bears I've lived and hunted here in Idaho for over 45 years and killed a lot of bears, but never in that time did I ever feel threatened by one of them.
Their only thought I could discern was to vacate the area populated by a human. Black bear have several warning signs from the vidios I've seen before thay will instigate an attack.
