View Full Version : Parts for obsolete rifles
I need a part for an old Ruger 44 carbine.
The part needed is a slide handle. Ruger's number for it is: C-48-B
Ruger doesn't have it, nor does GunPartsCorp or Brownell's.
Does anyone know of someone who specializes in Ruger parts?
Have you tried Numrich Arms - www.e_gunparts.com?
Yes, GunPartsCorp is another name for Numrich- they don't have the part, unfortunately.

Ruger .44 mag carbine! I remember when I was a kid seeing an article, complete with pictures, in a "sportsman's" magazine about this guy who went to Africa with his Ruger .44 and hunted down and killed a mountain gorilla that was "stalking" him. In today's view, knowing what we know about gorillas, it makes the guy look like a real chump. Oh, well.
Anyway, enough of that!.........PARTS FOR YOUR CARBINE!
I looked on eBay and there are only a very few minor parts items listed there for the Ruger .44 Carbine. Do your search on "Ruger .44 Carbine" and "Ruger Carbine" HOWEVER, eBay now has a feature called "Want It Now" where you can go in and sort of put in a request for something and when it or something like it comes up for auction, you get a notification. The feature is accessed in the My Eay window over to the left under My Views.
Also, there is a gun auction site called gunbroker.com that you might want to check out. It's pretty cool.

Jack,
If it is similar design to the handle for the Ruger 10-22, you should be able to make one reverse-engineering to get measurements from the bolt. Use mild steel and caseharden it. If this is beyond your resources, contact me at mikensue@ismi.net to discuss this further. I have made specialized bolt handles for semi auto shotguns.

Mike, thanks for the idea.
Unfortunately, the handles are completely different- as a matter of fact, although the old 44 carbine looks like a 10-22, on the inside, there's nothing similar about them.

You might try Bob's Gun shop in Az. He sometimes has parts not listed on the website. This is not to be confused with e-gunparts or numrich.
