I keep selling off my 336's in 35Rem. But then I'll buy another, just can't be without one. Logic gets the better of me and I'll find reasons to off them. First for one does all rifle, a bolt in 280Rem, then for a more powerfull woods gun, a 444. Liked them both but keep going back to the 35. Don't know if any of you have had similar experiences.

I'm pretty pleased with the 280 Rem mountian rifle I picked up last year. Light, low recoiling and easy on the eyes. It's a little light for elk out here in Idaho, but should make a good deer gun.

Nice rifle! Nice view!
I had an MR-7 in 280. Wished I could have kept it but can not afford a colection. And can't stop switching back to 35's which by the way are perfect for Michigan game with the possible exception of drawing an Elk permit. Still think the 35 would do the job within reason.

Savorino,
I have two of the early 336A's in .35 Remington and I will never sell them. Love those rifles and cartridge.

I started out with a late model mico grove 336/35 and sold it. It shot about a three inch group.
Then I started reloading and came accross a 336/35 RC with the ballard rifling and can keep the groups within the inch and a half @ one hundred yards. The olderMarlins from the fifties seem to be hand fitted as they are as smooth as glass.
Rifles come and go in this house , but this Marlin will never leave until I am gone

I have but one 35;
it's a 50's era RC with a straight stock. it is one of those guns, like the 30-30, that will stay with me forever.
I made the mistake of selling my early 1980s 35Rem a few years ago to a friend who has a bunch of Marlins. BAD mistake . I Had only killed one deer with it and didn't know how much I would miss it down the road. About two years ago I told the guy I sold it to to be looking for me another one. Low and behold he GAVE it back to me. I killed a small eight point buck with it last year but had already decided that I would never ever let it get away again.

I own one 35 Rem, bought in '91. Always wanted a lever gun but didn't want a 30/30 because they are so common. I stumbled across a 35 Rem on a day when I wasn't planning on buying anything but came home with it anyway. Right time, right price I guess. I live in western NY where big game hunting is shotgun or handgun only. I didn't really have a use for the 35 but I hung on to it, shooting it occassionally and daydreaming that I would hunt with it eventually. I considered trading it a couple times for something that would get more use but I just enjoyed the gun too much to get serious about it.
Well eventually came last year when they opened parts of western NY to rifle hunting. Two hours into its first season, me and the 35 had a deer down and out. Love hunting with it. Balance and handling like no other firearm. And plenty of oomph. Don't think I could ever trade it off.
