How difficult is it to install a bead sight onto a untapped rib? What is the smallest bead size available?

www.brownells.com should have all the supplies you need, I have never tried to do it, so I can't answer as to how hard it is

Need to find dead center of the rib. They make a jig for this, but it's pretty easy to measure a rib....but will need to drill and tap at 90degrees to get a good vertical hole nd the jig is a big help when using a hand drill. Drill press would e the prefered tool. but have done it with a leveled hand drill.
Ribs generally aren't all that hard, but you will watch the depth of that hole carefully when you drill..and when you tap.

If I understand your question you want to remove a dovetail front sight and install a ramp and small bead front sight?
If there is a dovetail on your barrel Williams makes a dovetail block that allows you to install the Williams Shorty ramp without drilling additional holes. You will see this part in the Brownells catalog. I have installed several of these on low recoil rifles that required a tall front sight due to the installation of a reciever sight.

Like ribbonstone said, use a drill press. I would not attempt a hand drill unless you have very steady hands. Your barrel as well as your drill need to stay level. Brownells has a jig and all the beads in different sizes.

IF your only choice is a hand drill, get a buddy and go slow. Buddy's job is to eye-ball it and keep you dead vertical.
