Gents, I'd like to have a safari style barrel mounted sling swivel put on a win Model 70 barrel. Will this require a complete barrel reblue, or is there a way to mount the ring/swivel without damaging the blue?

Here's a couple that are available. Either one can be silver soldered to your barrel and do not require a reblue. Same procedure as silver soldering on a front sight base.

Great - thanks. Now, how in the heck does that go over the front sight ramp on a pre-64 Model 70? Is that an impossibility, or is there a trick I'm unaware of?

How about one of those blocks that simply solders to the bottom of the barrel? Might that be an option?

I saw a gunsmith tip in a magazine a while ago where he used Acraglas to attach it. Now getting it over the sight? I would guess it has to come off.
