I have a model 7 ss/syn in .260. I just got a take off mountain contour ss 7mm-08 barrel off a model 700, will the 7mm-08 barrel fit on the model 7 without too much fuss?

The only thing you should have to do is have it head spaced. The actions are pretty much the same. Same case head size also for the 7mm-08 and the .260.

the threads are the same on the 700 barrel as the model 7. The difference is in the length of the threads. The 700 has a longer threaded shank. You have to cut it back to the same length as the model seven, assemble the barrel then rechamber given enough meat to chamber the cartridge you want to shoot.

This should be doable without to much problems if yout going from a 700 barrel with the same cartridge length as the model 7 barrel.
