I've done a little surfing around and see "trigger kits" that appear to replace the entire trigger assembly.

This seems to me like the way to go for the price (sub $100) but I have a couple of questions:

1. Any recommendations as to WHICH trigger kit to get, and;

2. Am I correct in assuming that this is a "bolt in" operation not requiring any special tools, fitting, stoning, polishing etc?

Do you have the accu-trigger or standard trigger. If you have the old standard trigger you can buy a Rifle Basix trigger that requires no special tools.

Is there a serial number break between the old and new types, or some easily observable visual difference?

The accu-trigger has a little gizzy sticking out of the center of the trigger itself. They are also much lighter in pull weight.

The accu-trigger is easy to recognize. There will be two pieces to your trigger. A slim blade will be set in the middle of the trigger and go the full length of the trigger. It has to be pulled until your finger contacts the main trigger. It takes a special tool to adust the accu-trigger that usually comes with the gun.

Actually 1.5 inches at a hundred is pretty good accuracy from a 22 long rifle. Just variences in ammo can make up to a two inch difference at that range not to mention if there is any wind blowing.

I'll let you know how it works out.I just ordered the Savage .17 bolt action and my smith is putting the rifle basics trigger on for $35.00. I think they just came out with that one.

I hate to answer myself but the little rifle came in and it has the accu-trigger on it. It is easy to adjust. I guess the new rifle come with this trigger.
Haven't shot it yet. I put high rings on it and installed a Swift 4-12.
I never thought I'd get one of these but my friend's sure is accurate. Just the thing for crows, coons, and other corn thieves.

I ordered their Match/Target rimfire trigger today. Slightly cheaper than the Rifle Basix unit, but the deciding factor was that RB wanted me to pay via PayPal, and for reasons I won't bore you with, that ain't happenin'...

Well, I got my trigger in today from Sharpshooter's Supply.

Went in just as advertised, and WHAT A DIFFERENCE!

You couldn't ask for better, right out of the box. (Priority Mail envelope, actually...)

Fired three rounds into a blistering headwind from a windowsill rest, and put 'em inside a quarter-sized circle. Can't wait to get it to the range and see what it'll do with a decent trigger in it.
