It was with great disappointment that I found A&H is suspending operations when I went to their web page yesterday ( http://www.austinhalleck.com/ ). I just went out yesterday to sight in my A&H 420 I purchased earlier this year. It's an excellent rifle, with superb accuracy, a top-notch trigger, easy disassembly, and of course a beautiful maple stock. Apparently the new lever action muzzle loaders never made it to production. They're selling off existing inventory at 50% of retail plus shipping.

That's too bad. They made some nice looking guns.

Yeah that sucks, I love my 420, it's the most accurate muzzleloader I ever shot, 1in 100yd groups with 4 different bullets and powders. It will easily blow the head off a squirrel with 60grs of 3f goex and a patched round ball at 50yds. The girl I talked to said they just didn't make money, I found that weird considering the quality and accuracy of their guns. I will admitt that the gun is on the heavy side, but hey just like recoil, you don't notice it when shooting at game and it sure is steady to hold. Oh well, each to their own, I'm just real glad I got one years ago, no matter where or what I hunt with it, it gets the job done, and has never given me one once of trouble in 4 years, or failed to go boom when I pulled the trigger, and I've shot hundreds of rounds playing, hunting, and experimenting. I was saving my pennies to buy the shot gun this year, maybe I'll get one from what they have left, everything left is 50% off. First Winchester, now these guys, I hope that's the end now, I just wish alot of the junk on the market would go out of business

They had a lot of quality controle problems. I had a Mountain rifle in flint and ended up sending it back and they sent me a new one. It is hard to make money when you sell 2 for the price of 1. I have heard of a lot of others with the same problems I had. They look great though.

Yes, there are lots of people who had problems with those rifles and that would make me very reluctant to buy from a company that is out of business. Even a rifle with a fine ruputation may ocassionally need a replacement part and A&H does not have a fine reputation. As to being 50% off, I feel that is about all they ever were worth. If you get a good one, it is good, but I've heard of folks having to return rifles three times before they got a keeper. I have to wonder if some of those 50% off guns may have been previously returned.
