I just picked up a model 94 a week ago and it came with a box of ammo of the likes I have never seen before. Can anyone give me some info on it? Also the way he talked the gun hasn't been fired in over 5 years so im sure the ammo is just as old.

Remington Accelerator. A .224 55 grain bullet in a plastic sabot with a muzzle velocity of 3400 fps. Basically an attempt to turn your deer rifle into a .223 varmint rifle. Accuracy was not very good. They're now out of production. I got this data out of Remington's 1989 catalog, but I don't know offhand how long they were in production.

Welcome to the forum mekp21. Rules are simple, be nice and join in.
They were called accelerators and used a light .224 diameter bullet in a sabot and give a very high velocity for a bullet fired from a 30-30. They were designed to shoot coyotes and small game. I've never seen any that gave acceptable accuracy.
I wouldn't use them on big game as they use a very frangible varmit bullet.
I don't believe they've been produced for a few years. They should be safe to shoot in your 94.

Thank you For the quick response. I can't wait to shoot it as its my first lever gun. but hopefully not my last. I also got a model 37a in .410 as well as a 12 gun cabinet all for $400. The 37a though needs some tlc as it looks like it sat in the back of a truck for a while

What you have there is actually a terrorist bullet.
Watched a portion of the CSI:Miami a night or two ago and they had an victim that was shoot with an accelerator bullet & they were bitching about the lack of bullet groove patterns on the bullet (groove would be on the sabot that falls off in flight).
I get so fed up with the politics of Hollywood sometimes I just have to turn it off.
