I just purchased a new T/C Encore Pro Hunter 209 x .50 Cal Muzzleloader this weekend and need some advise on getting it set up. I would like to hear from you guys on what is working best for you? I am exspecially interested in hearing what scopes you are using. I am looking for a really good scope that will handle the recoil.

Thanks.

I've had pretty good luck with Cabala's pine ridge 2-7 variable designed for shotguns and muzzle loaders. Good optics, easy to use power ring and for $70.00 a real bargian.

If you want to get into more expensive scopes there are two I've had experience with that I like. The next step up is the Simmons ATEC 2.8 by 10. Compact and some of the best optics for the money I've ran across.

The old standby Leapold comes last. From the 2 by 7 Riflemans you can get at Wally world for under 200 bucks to the 2.5 by 8 vari-x III which is one of the brightest scopes I've ever looked thru.

My 2 cents.

I have a Pro-hunter M/L, I am using a Nikon Omega 3 X 9 X 40 BDC scope. I use 120 gr. of loose triple 7 powder under a 250 gr. bonded T/C shockwave sabot with Remington kleenbore primers.

I am getting 1 inch groups at 100 yards and with the BDC scope I make consistent 2 inch groups at 200 yards. I have not tried shooting out to 225 or 250 yet, but feel with the set up, it will be no problem.

I have taken one deer so far with this set up, the deer was at 130 yards and one shot was all I needed.

My buddy has the same set up as me but he is using the standard Encore barrel with the same accuracy. I just set up another buddy with the same set up and we have similar results in all three muzzleloader's.

I highly recommend the Nikon Omega BDC Scope. I am a Leupold guy, but the New Nikon is hard to beat.

I put a ProHunter ML barrel on and extra frame that I had for my son this year and scoped it up with a Zeiss Conquest 4.5-14. I sighted it in using 130 gr Pyrodex pellets and 250 gr Hornady SST's. I am grouping about 1.5 inches at 100 yards. My son killed a nice 8 point and big doe with it, and I killed a doe too.
