Got my 336 .35 remington back from the gunsmith on Friday mounted with the 2-7x vari-x ii Leupold. Gun looked great.

Went to the range today with 200 grain Hornady Leverevolutions. After a quick dialing in the gun actually shot a 1 1/2-inch group at 100 yards.

Shot nine rounds total. Shoulder didn't feel as bad a I had expected. Deer season starts in less than two weeks!

Sweet!

Outstanding. That should be some fantastic Texas deer and hog medicine.

I've got a lease between Castroville and Hondo. Have been on it 14 years now. Deer, turkey, hog abound.

I set my 35 Rem aside in favor of my new-to-me .444 Marlin this season. But with Remington factory ammo I made a 200 yard shot on a forkhorn a couple of years ago. With the LeverEvolution ammo and that scope you definately have a 200 yard deer rifle. Good luck with your season.

naumann,

You could be right, but I'm not going to push my luck. Will use this rifle out to 150 yards but not going to chance it further. I've got a .270 for that job. Not as much fun to shoot, but I've had more luck with it than any other gun I've ever owned.

Thanks for the well wishes, same to you friend.

Aside from mounting the scope, did the 'smith do anything else to the rifle?

JCW,

Yes, actually he did, but nothing major. He also removed the Lyman peep and replaced one part.

Nothing that would improve accuracy though..... besides the scope!
