Hello to all. This is my first post. I have been watching and searching the site for a thread on the same lines as this. I decided to just come out with it. Heck, I'll never see any of you anyway so I don't need to be concerned about showing my ignorance. I just got handed down a TC muzzleloader. It has no marking other than .50 cal. It has 2 triggers and 1 barrel locking pin on stock. I would like to shoot this gun but I'm I am hesitant without having any specs or instructions. A guy told me to get some 345 grain shots and 777 powder. I already picked up stuff to clean it with and I am going to break it down and thoroughly clean it. Anyone know what I've got here? Or how I can find out more about it? I emailed TC several days ago but have not gotten a reply. Thanks in advance for any help.

It's a big subject and I'd advise you to wait for a T/C owners manual, which is pretty good. No serial number on the barrel?
As for cleaning, don't try to unscrew the breech plug on the back end of the barrel. They're impact wrench tight. If the bore feels rough when you run a tight patch down, it may be gummed up with T/C Natural Lube 1000. One of the more violent carburetor cleaners and lots of brushing should get it out.
I'm not sure what the maximum load of 777 powder is, but don't go over 90 grains equivalent to black powder with a 345 grain bullet.

JM, yes there is a serial # on the barrel. I provided TC with that info but like I said I haven't heard back yet. I saw a post somewhere that TC doesn't do email. Could I find a manual somewhere else? Would you'all be able to ID this gun from a photo? How do I post a pic? Thanks for the links, I am getting lots of general info here and some things I didn't know. Thanks to all, this is a cool site.

give t/c a call they send you a manual for free
1 603 332 2333
triple 777 powder forget see if you could get goex 3f powder and start with 80 grains and 490 hornady RB wad under the patch, patch lube beeswax and lard works excellent 60/40 mix or to start t/c borebutter on a patch will work well. I would also look for a upgrade nipple like knight red hot nipple .uncle mike hot shot nipple.I like RWS 1075 plus caps but they can be hard to locate, you can try cci mag capsthey work well.
I would also recommend to read the book and a word of caution never use anything between shot except spit on a patch or water,no solvents bwtween shots.I would also say never run a dry patch down the barrel after a shot ,the crud of burnt powder will get the jag and patch stuck inthe barrel.
hope this helps
