View Full Version : tikka t3 bolt dont rotate far enough
new t-3 7mm-08 i bought but never shot yet, noticed the safety was not working, so a friend brought his tikka over and even with his bolt in my gun the safety does not work on mine. we finally noticed my bolt handle does not rotate all the way down as his does. so basically again, when rotating his bolt or my bolt in my rifle, the bolt will not rotate far enough for the safety to work. i guess its not rotating quite far enough for the pin to come up and go into the hole thats in the bolt. everything looks right, and it cannot be my bolt because it works in his gun, and i cannot see any thing different from his bolt reciever than mine. were puzzled. what is the deal any ideas??????

Yup SLG if this is a new gun and you purchased it from a sporting goods store you need to take it back to them and say "look at this" something is very wrong.
If you bought it from a private party then you need to contact the manufacture and say the same thing and ask them what they would like to do about it.

you need to check your scope bace screws. i had the same problem with mine. i have the leupold base and it comes with 2 long and 2 short screws. the short ones need to go in the front base. i hope this helps.

Checking base screw length is a great idea. Also, I was wondering if you was using a round of ammo to check function. I just finished a Weatherby .257 that wouldn't completely chamber a round. Turned out to have the neck of the previous round left in the throat. Here endeth the lesson.
