I have been using Sierra Pro Hunter 125 Gr bullets with Reloader 7 at about 2950fps in my 99 Savage 308. I really like this combination for accuracy and effectiveness on Sitka Blacktail deer.
Recently I bought a box of Sierra Pro Hunter 125 gr flat nose HP to use in my Winchester M-64 30/30. Now I have decided not to handload for that gun and am wanting to use the hollow points in the 308. Do you think I wouuld have good use from them loaded to about 2400-2600 fps? Thanks. Bobcat

more likely than not, those bullets would act much like a varmint bullet and disintegrate at higher velocities. The velocities your wanting to hit, though, would be just right I think.

You can always do some Ballistic Gel tests. :)

I use the 170 grain "30/30" bullets in my Savage'99 in 300 Savage,at 2500FPS,with problems.
I would load the cartridges down to that velocity.

I found that the 125 sierra flat nose shot real good in my ruger 308 and driven flat out to droped a six point red deer for meat in its tracks behind the shoulder and very little meat damage.cheers.
