I Have A New Marlin 39a. It Is Made Good Like Most Guns Use To Be Made. I Love It. Due To The Lawyer Laws The Trigger Pull Is Heavy. Any Clues To Lightening It Up?
It just requires a little stoning of the engagement surfaces. If you have done this before it is easy. If you haven't, perhaps you want to consider taking it to someone who has.

thankyou for the reply. Most triggers will lighten up with use. Would it help to speed up the process if I applied Dri-Slide? It is hard to find a gunsmith to work on triggers.
I do all my own. It really is pretty easy, but you need the right equipment. Look in Brownell's catalog for appropriate stones and gently use them, reassembling and checking frequently.

Don't lubricate it! It'll take forever to get broken in if you lubricate it.
Here's a technique which will work, but needs to be done very carefully.
1. Fit a piece of rubber sheet or leather where the hammer falls, to save wear and tear on the firing pin.
2. While applying LIGHT pressure to the rear of the hammer spur, pull the trigger. Cock the hammer and repeat this maybe thirty or forty times. Remember, I said LIGHT pressure on the hammer spur. This will essentially accelerate the breaking in and smoothing of the sear surfaces.
3. Now clean those sear surfaces on the trigger and hammer with solvent, dry, and apply a light coat of grease, such as Lubriplate Aero, to one of the surfaces.
I'll bet you'll have a much better trigger. If it feels better but not good enough at this point, carefully repeat the process, cleaning off all lub on the sear surfaces first.
Good luck, safe shooting,

Glad to be of help. That technique was told to me by a retired gunsmith, and it's worked for me on several exposed hammer type (lever action) rifles, both Marlin and Winchester.
