I have need of a rifle scabbard to attach to my horse's saddle. The odd thing is that the rifle that I need it for is an AR15 flat top with a scope and a 20rd. mag. So anyone know where I can get the plans for such please let me know. I have some leather tools and heavy leather.

You probably could buy one out of Cabala's or Midway for less than the cost of the leather to build one. I know that Cabala's has some pretty nice ones for reasonable prices.

Perhaps you could modify a leather one for a scoped carbine. Maybe by just making a cut where the clip could stick out the bottom. Good luck.

As a retired Saddlemaker and Leathersmith I can tell you it is not to hard to make your own pattern out of posterboard or brown wrapping paper . I have made lots of rifle scabbards as well as holsters for scopped pistols of most all kinds from TC Contenders to BIG hog legs . I did this for 35 years . Send me a pm and I'll try and help you out .

Making one like that never even crossed my mind. I think I could make some changes to that design and use it. It seems like it would lend it's self well to the use of a scope and 30rd. mag. I'd have to work out the placement if it hindered my horse's gait. I think it's do-able.Thanks

On this page there is one that will take a scope.
