well boys, i put the old 44 marlin to the test and she passed with flying colors, yesterday morning was our opening to rifle season and i got up around 300 in the mourning to prepare for the mornings hunt at 545 i was in the feild,at 620 i saw the first does of the mourning ,knowing there was a nice buck close i watch them a few minutes then at 625 he came out of the brush i threw my 1894 mariln 44 to my shoulder and dropped the hammer he jumped straight up in the air and took of in a dead run right toward me well i heard him crash and i waited thirty minutes,i then went to check him out ,when i shot him he was exactly 132yds from me i hit him high dead center the entrance was small the exit wound was the size of a golf ball, part of his liver was hit and his lungs were too,i have had some thoughts on tradeing it but now theres no way i would even consider get rid of it,this mouring i shot a young doe with it through brush now and she took 3 steps and dropped there on the spot she was 60 yds from me,these are the first two deer i have ever shot with a 44 mag rifle i`ll never hunt with anything else,44man

Wow, your season's off to a great start! It's addicting when those big bullets anchor game like they're supposed to! Congrats on the two deer!
God bless,

Awesome 44 man. You sure are having a good season and the 44 lever is serving you well. 134 yds is an exceptional shot. The 60 ain't burn't toast either. Congrats!
I do want to see those groups in the postal match next year. No, second thought you may never want to shoot for group, some things are left unknown. I would like to know what round you used? I guess a winchester sp in 240 gr?
Man, sorry about all the edits. I just noticed we don't know ehat sight you settled on. Last we heard you were going with the Williams?

Thanks guys, you just caused me to remind myself that I've been spending too much time with other Marlins. Got to take the 336-44 hunting!!!
Congrats 44 man! I sure hold my little 1894 .44 in high regards. Off the bench, using a cast 310 grain bullet it shoots 2 1/8" groups at 100 yards. Handy, accurate, hits with a whallop, what's not to like? I'll probably finish the season using it. -JDL
