I'm thinking of getting a DPMS SASS .308, but I am not really to sure what brand of scope to equip it with. I am not looking for nightvision capability, so many of the ATN stuff is not being considered. I don't really feel like spending more than $400. I was looking at some Barska optics but about 70% of the reviews for them have been negative. Non-Nightvision capable ATN scopes are looking good, and many reviews have been possitive. If you know of some others/other brands, that would work well for this type of weapon, please let me know.
As to what type of shooting, and ranges I plan on......
Mainly target target shooting from 100 to 500 yards, in a prone or kneeling position. Hunting is also an option, however, not likely, and of course varmit shooting. I live in Utah, so I am looking at an elevation of 5000 to 7000 feet, with eviromental conditions ranging from desert, mountain (higher humidity levels), temperate, and around lakes. Temps during the summers can reach as high as 100 in and around the cities and desert, and winter temps are around 30 - 40, with lows reaching around 0, and the winters are usually very dry, but with snow. I think that should about cover it.

This price cap is difficult for a truely good sniper rifle scope. Maybe try the Busnell Elite 3200series or a less expensive Leupold like the Mark 2 3-9x40. These should be sufficient with the amount of use and distance that your are talking about. Both have low light clarity and are waterproof.

The original post is over a year old. Most probably, the poster has acquired his scope by now.
