My search turned up empty, so, here we go with a new one.

I am looking for load data for a 180gr TSXB for a 30/06.

Would prefer something with Varget powder (if recommended), or anything that anyone has had sucess with would help as well.

Thank you in advance.

According to the Barnes #3 reloading manual, you can use the same information on loading the TSX (I don't know what the "B" stands for - they don't reference it) as their 180 gr XFB and XBT bullets.

Varget is not a listed powder in their manual. The closest to Varget burn rate listed is either Alliant RL15 or Alliant 2520.

Having only loaded their TSX bullets in 6,5mm, I can't help you with personal load info on the 180 grainers.

Varget seems a little fast. I use it with the 165gr. bullets, but even with that weight, it doesn't get top velocities.

With the 180s, I'd suggest something in the range of 4350 - 4831.

Ok, so I can't use Varget.

What does the book say, or what has anyone had any success with?

Should I use a grain or a pound?

The Barnes manual recommends either H4350 (50.5 start, 54.5 max), IMR4320 (44.0 gr start, 48.0 max), Norma204 (49.0 gr start, 53.0 gr max), or MRP (53.0 gr start, 57.0 gr max).

Great! Thanks kdub. Thats all I needed. Couldn't see buying a $30 manual for two lines worth of information!

Too add to this, the TSX does not develope the same pressure and therefore velocity of the unbanded x. With this in mind, and YOUR personnal comfort levels you can add powder until your chrono is registering typical velocity (2700 ish) for a 180 '06 load. I say this because you may find that with max loads from the manual the TSX is falling 100-200 fps behind because of the reduced pressure. One can increase powder to increase pressure to bump it to the same safe velocity levels. If this makes you uncomfortable or you are not a very experienced handloader DO NOT exceed the max levels in the manual. I prefer H4831 or Re22 with the '06 and 180's also.

Another vote for H4831SC with Barnes 180's.
