Greetings all,
Has anyone had any dealings with SSK barrels for thier older contenders? Am debating wether or not to use Fox Ridge outfitters or SSK. Pros and Cons on both would be a big help. Thanks in advance

SSK barrels can't be beat. With most of their proprietary chamberings, SSK is the only source. In the JDJ calibers, I have experience with the .257, 6.5, .309, .338 Number 2, and .375, as well as the .338 Woodswalker. Several other special, but not proprietary, calibers have also been offered generally only by SSK in the Contender...examples would be the .480 Ruger, and the .225 Winchester, both of which I also have experience with. I've been extremely satisfied with all of these barrels.
On the other hand, the .375JDJ is available through Fox Ridge/The T/C Custom Shop, as well as regular T/C factory production. These barrels will be cheaper than SSK. Their durability will be fine of course, but I can't give first hand info on their accuracy, compared to the SSK. Best loads with 220, 270, and 300 gr. bullets are well established for the .375JDJ.
With any of these, best ballistics will be achieved with the 14" barrel.
