OK
I have a Marlin 45/70 which I had customized by YoBo and it turned me into a BIG TIME fan of the Lever action.
I have decided I want to get a lever and revolver both customized in the same caliber for carrying in the woods. It would not be my primary hunting rifle as thats my 45/70 but this would just be a nice set up for being in the woods camping or whatever. As I want the pistol and rifle in the same caliber I have the choice of .44 mag or 45 Colt and I think there are more choices of ammo in the .44 so I am heavily leaning that way but am not sure...

I have heard;

"Unfortunately the good rounds (like Garret rounds) seem to be too long to fit in .44 magnum lever actions, and a Marlin .44 magnum can't handle bullets heavier than 270gr. "

from a few people.

What does anyone know about this?

Welcome to the forum. That advise is true, although there are some threads here about adapting the 1894 to longer OALs.

Use the search function, if you don't find it, I bet someone can quickly recall the exact thread.

Jyogi,

Actually you can shoot rounds as heavy as 300gr. without any problem in a Marlin rifle. I have a Marlin rifle and have no problem shooting 300 gr rounds out of it. if you want to shoot anything Anything heavier out of a marlin you will have to have a gunsmith rebarrel your Marlin with a barrel that has a faster twist rate.

I am having the guys at Yost Bonitz build this rifle off a Marlin for me.
I will be having a S&W revolver (very slight chance of a ruger) in .44 mag. 4.5 or 5 in barrel. The Marlin will be and 18.5 in barrel and it wont go for anything bigger than deer or hog and never over 100 yrds (most likely 75)
Can I find a round to work in both?
I was going to get a S&W 629, both will be tuned.

Telll me what to do to the riles, what type of ammo ro tun etc etc as I sad Id like the ame rd for each

The BTB 250 grain WFN would be a good choice for a two gun rig. Check the writeup on this site. That bullet was designed to feed in leverguns.
