I have not been hunting sence I was I think 12. I am now 25 so it has been a few years. I am going to try to bag a "Texas bore" in January on a hunt that has been planned. If I find I still enjoy it I am planning on hunting again next year. But I have no idea where to start. Most of the hunting will be done in Florida and occasionaly in Georga, South Carolina and Texas. The unfortunate thing is I am at a dis advantage because In all honestty when I was a kid I just did what dad told me to do and if he told me to shoot a deer a hog or something well I did. About all I remember was either siting in a stand or creeping throught the woods. I am hopeing to go on a few guided hog hunts first just to get the feal for it again, but I have hurd some realy bad things about guided hunts. The prices for guided almost anything 4 legged other than hog to me seam nutz. Is this a good way to start hunting again? Does anybody know of any good guide services that they would recomend in florida?

Any help or guidance would be much appriciated,
Thanks

zapzoo,

I have hunted hogs down around Lake Okeechobee with Ron's guide service. I think around $250 for hog hunt with dogs (the only way I can see hunting in that thick stuff), $200 a piece if you get 4 or more hunters.

Some guys say that is too high, and maybe it is, but I had fun that day and got a nice 250 lb. porker with little 1 inch cutters.

Deer hunting in this state is just plain high, $800 and up for 4 days hunting. Plan on going to Georgia or Alabama if you want to get in a good deer club.
