Question: Was the Model 94 Winchester ever chambered for the old .30-40 round? It's crossed my mind often to see if the Mod. 94 in .30-30 could be rechambered. Not a great increase in horsepower but I've seen times the heavier bullet would have been nice. Any ideas?

The Winchester Model 94 was never chambered in .30/40 Krag. The Model 95 Winchester was made in .30/40, .30-06 and 7.62x54 Russian among other calibers. All the best...

Leave the 94 alone and search out a 95, in -06.
The 30-40 was a stop gap, a step in the evolution of cartridges. Leave it to the antiques and use the 30-30 or 30-06 for game. My input anyway.
The 95's were used by some of the 2nd USVC due to a shortage of Kraigs when they shipped out.

The 30-40 is too long to work through the M94 action.

why or how the bolt action became popular. The win94 and the thurty-thurty is a perfect combination. The bolt has evolved and evolved, but the 94 just keeps on ticking. :D
