Hi there-

I just picked up a Marlin 1894 in .45 LC and would like to put a peep sight on it. It is one of the newer ones that is not drilled on the left side of the receiver for a Williams Foolproof, so I was wondering if anyone here had a suggestion for another peep, perhaps one that could be mounted on the top of the receiver using the existing holes for a scope base.

Thanks!

KenK was kind enough to post a picture of a Williams sight made for the new Marlin rifles at the bootom of the first page on the thread linked below.

Welcome to the forum. I have one sitting on my desk, which I came up with in some sort of trade. Email me through the forum if you are interested. It comes with one of the tall red plastic front sights, presumably the correct height.

I'll double check that the hole spacing is correct, since it came in a bag labeled "Mossberg." But it appears to be correct on eyeball measurements....

When I puchased my 1894CP I was told that Marlin had stopped drilling the recievers to save money on production costs and only about 5% of folks actualy put peeps them on, but if you send it to Marlin they will drill and tap N/C. This is just what I was told (YMMV).

I opted to go with a tang sight from Marbles to increase the sight radius, it has paid off because shotgun shells at 50yrds are not a problem

Here's one at a decent price.

Ganjiro, thanks for the link. I've been looking for something like this for a while. I just ordered a front and rear plus an additional wider front for my 1894.

Another option would be the Williams WGRS.

I put a Williams WGRS on my Marlin 1895G and I really like it!

I'll second the Williams WGRS. I just put one on my 336 in 35 Rem. For a hunting rifle/sight combo, I couldn't be happier. Lou
