I don't know about the rest of the state, but north of New Orleans is tore up. The old hardwood bottoms that we used to hunt, are gone. It almost makes you cry to see the destruction left behind. My house, I have rebuilt. My hunting land will never be the same. Maybe my great grand kids will see clear woods again.

Have noticed the same thing..although i passed on deer hunting this year (too much on my plate). The deer will be back a lot sooner than the mature forest, but the type of hunting will change.

Hunting tactics have changed, that is for sure. If it is not a trophy, you better drop it right where it stands, or you will have on **** of a tracking job on your hands.

Our deer season is over 1/28/07. On the 29th I will be in the woods with my chain saws and pole saws cutting up everything that I can find laying down. About the only place that you can hunt is over a clear cut. The woods are just messed up.
