These are posted on the Ruger's site now. Has anyone heard how good the new trigger is?
I see they list a 22" .280, .338 Federal, and .358 as caliber options in the carbon stock model. Nice options.
The standard model includes a .257 Roberts, but excludes the prior three. That seems odd. A 24" .25-06 is available in both.
The .204 Ruger has a 24" barrel and the .22-250 and .223 only 22". I wonder if they are trying to promote the new round of their's a bit there?

They can't be too proud of that trigger. There is zero information about it on their site.

I'm going to buy a synthetic-stocked model in .338 Federal as soon as it becomes available.
I need a <300-yard elk rifle that doesn't kick a lot, and I can't imagine anything better suited to that purpose than a controlled-round feed M77 in .338 Federal.
Since I don't hunt Brown Bear, along with my new .260 I can't imagine I would ever need anything else for hunting North American game...except a backup rifle.

You need a 45-70 or .444 Marlin:)

One of my favorite shops had one in last time I was in there. Blued and walnut in .375 Ruger caliber. I like the new recoil pad. I dislike the new rear sight sitting there on the barrel on its island. So Ruger rear sights still need replacing in my opinion. The trigger... I like it. It's what it should be on a good hunting rifle. Short, light, crisp, it breaks nicely without grit or a lot of creep. It's still a Ruger action. 3 position safety in the same place doing the same things. Controlled round fed like the M77 mkII.
The thing I noticed right off was how light the rifle is. I didn't have a way to confirm weight but it was light. I'd probably like it in 30-06 or something like that but not in something that is cound to hit you a lick on firing like a 300 grain .375 caliber bullet at 2450-2500 fps.
That's my observations. Nice rifle. I'd take one in 7x57 Mauser and add a Lyman aperture sight in place of that rear sight. Better yet, a Leupold VX2 2-7x33. That would fit the bill.

Yeah, I'd say with a .260 and .338 Fed, you're set. I wish they offered it in a Whelen.

I don't think they are ready to introduce it yet. John Barsness picked up a Hawkeye in 375 Ruger last week and said it came with the regular Mark II trigger. I suspect the new trigger is still in development.
Thought Ruger had used the name "hawkeye" with their now oblsolete single shot revolver?

I don't know. They mention it in the second line of the write up for their Hawkeye rifles so I assume it is in production yet when I searched their site I couldn't find a thing about it.
