Is it easy to get permission to hunt hogs on private land? Are landowners as happy to grant permission for russian boars and javelina as well as for feral pigs? Do any of you fellas here host reasonably priced hog hunts? (If yes, why don't you sell hunts on ebay, it looks like one guy is taking up all the action!) are there specific season dates on javelina or russian boars? does one general Texas license fee cover all 3 species? What important questions should I be asking that I've missed, and what are their answers? Thanks in advance for all your answers!!!! I've been reading about these hog hunts and I'm feeling really left out!

Best bet is to look in the on-line versions of the major Texas newspapers for ads for hunts.
It's pretty much pay for hunting here, although hogs are pretty reasonable compared to deer.
Good luck.

I am new here, but had been sent this by a member of this Forum. Not sure if I am who you are talking about, but I do offer Javelina hunts on eBay from time to time.
Not sure what you mean by reasonably priced hog hunts, but there are some folks that do offer various hunts for feral pigs throughout Texas. All wild pigs here in Texas are classed as feral hogs, whether they are of European Wild pig decent or regular domestic hog decent.
Non-residents can purchase a 5 Day, Non-Resident Special Hunting License, that allows them to hunt feral hogs, other exotics, and Javelina.
Depending on the type of experience you are after, feral hog hunts in Texas range from lifetime memries all the way to the biggest joke around.
As for Javelina, there are 50 counties that basically have no closed season, and 43 counties that have a season that runs from Oct.1 to Feb.25. In the remainder of the state there is no open season.
You can check out our website, that is listed as my signature. we do not offer feral hog hunts, only Javelina, but willing to help with any questions you may have on hunting either hogs or javelina.

Thanks for the reply! looks like you run an excellent hunt and I'm glad you hint at differentiating between a hunt and a shoot... If it ain't a challenge, it ain't much fun.

Typically, it is not easy to get permission to hunt feral hogs on private land in Texas because too many farmers & ranchers have been burned by those who preceeded you. Land being trashed, other game being poached, or cattle being killed left too many bad feelings. You can sometimes find a place if the hogs are causing serious trouble to the hay patch or stock tank with the right approach. What's the right approach? It's different for each area. Go have coffee or go to cattle auctions, or ask a friend to ask a friend until you find one that knows a farmer or rancher. You may not know gid up from sic 'em about cows, but there are still things you can offer to do to earn the right to hunt. Like, chain sawing the brush out of fence rows, rolling up old wire, etc. I became president of my Community Center just so I could meet my neighbors, and now I can hunt or trap on several places. I also help build fence, haul hay, cut fire wood, and help them clean the animals they hunt.
