Does anyone know of a manufacturer who makes a pre-fit pad for a 7600 with a walnut stock?
I just picked up a new 7600 in .35 Whelen and am thinking of adding one. I've poked around on the web and haven't found any recoil pads for it...which is odd because they don't come with one.
I have seen one for the sythetic stock versions but nothing for the walnut.
Thanks,
Dean

Yeah I saw that one but it says it's only for the synthetic stocked 7600s. I have a walnut stock.

Leverjunkie - The 7600's wood buttstock has a slight curve to the "plate", which is the reason you won't find a "pre-fit" that will work. I had to have a gunsmith cut the stock and install a "grind-to-fit" one on my .35 Whelen. Riley

Aahh got ya. That makes sense. Yeah a local shop said they can do that to the tune of about a $100. Sound high?

Yes, that sounds high for this area - not sure about yours.
Normally, the pad cost the 'smith under $20. Takes about 1/2 hour to be installed, so the normal labor costs would be somewhere around $25 - $35. Usually, can get a pad installed for less that $60.
If it were me (I install my own only), I'd charge an additional $20 for the cleanup of the powdered rubber that flies everywhere!
I purchased a limited run 7600 .270 several years ago from Grice Gun Shop. It has a black laminate stock and like it alot. The plastic butt on it does su$% and I had it replaced with a recoil pad last year. The gunsmith fitted a pad to it and it looks and works pretty good.....at least I like it !
