View Full Version : Trigger guard pinch problem

I bought a Taurus Tracker 6" in a .44 mag and love the looks of it but the trigger guard kills my finger off the recoil. The guard really bangs against my middle finger. My friends S&W .44 mag does not do this. Does anyone have this problem? I have average hands, pretty much (gaging from playing a lot of racket sports-normal size grips) Any suggestions on grip replacements? I looked up Hogue grips but can't find any specifically for Tracker .44 mag.

Which grips are on it, the solid-looking ones, or the 'ribber' grip that the titanium snubbies have?

They are not the solid ones, I guess they are the "ribber" ones.

Hmmm..... one thought, might change them out for the standard Taurus grips, if you can't find anything else.
I don't know if the grip frame matches any other brand / size of revolver.

BOP,
is this the stainless model?
and is it ported?
I am betting it's ported and that you have non- Brazilian sized hands.
Reason I ask is that I have run into the same issues with the medium framed, ported, Taurus revolvers. They're porting patter really does work to control muzzle flip. But that means the gun comes straight back. My ex had (I asked her to tell me if she ever wanted to sell it) their model 415. 41 mag in a 2.5 inch barrel, in stainless with the ribber grip. It beat the snot out of te back of my middle finger too. A buddy of mine has the blue TI .45 Colt snubby by them. Same porting, same jump right back at ya, but the 250 grain lead RN factory loads in that thing don't bite on the blunt end.
You might solve your problem with a different/ bigger grip. Or you might have to load light for your practice ammo and load normal for your carry stuff.

I have the ribber grips on my 41 mag tracker and don't have the problem your talking about, but I have fairly small hands. Check out the Taurus web site, they do have some different grips available. I'm not sure for that frame size, but check them out.

I do have the stainless ported model. Thank you for your replies. I really like the .44 cartridge and hope to shoot it more without banging up my middle finger. You guys really know your stuff. I really enjoy this forum.

I ordered and received the Hogue grips from Midway today and problem solved! I think :D , when I grab the new grips the trigger guard is no where close. Only $15 bucks! I can now hopefully enjoy my Taurus .44 without having a banged up finger.

Good for you. It is unfortunately something that is difficult to predict in advance.
A .38 Special SP101 will bite my knuckles.... even though it isn't all that bad, recoil wise. You just never know.....
