Back in July of '83, Bob Snapp wrote an article outlining how he converted a Mar.M94 to .45ACP and into a trapper version.
Does anyone here know of this being done by anyone else?

Pepe,
I remember the article! Nicely done rifle...... my thought at this point would be on the 460 Roland. It's virtually identical in size, but delivers much more punch. If the M94 would handle the Roland, then the ACP could be used as plinkers!!
Best of luck!

Dangerous activity. Banish the thought from your minds. There is a reason most 'smith's don't offer this conversion. No problem with flatpoint bullets, BUT there is always the chance that someone, somewhere will fill the mag with hardball. Experimenters in the past have proven that since there is little wiggle room in the mag tubes, the hardball aligns with the primers perfectly and they will consistantly detonate from mishandling. With the .460, recoil would do. It only takes one. BOL

Read the recent article in Handloader about magazine detonations. I know this is endlessly discussed, the article shows how difficult it is to intentionaly set off a magazine explosion. I believe that it is near impossible by accident. Even with round nose bullets, the recoil from a 45ACP in a rifle would be very small.

Point taken, but their almost perfect alignment in the magazine, being pistol primers (the easiest to detonate per the article), the very hard noses of hardball and the common availability of hardball (not so with most non-military pistol calibers) all contribute to make this one of the highest percentage situations. I understand that the chances may be small, but again, it only takes once. My best wishes on your individual decisions.

If they worked out this particular kink, I'd buy one.

Hey Guys,
I wonder how many rounds of 45 ACP you could load in a M94 magazine. Load on Sunday.....shoot all week!!

The article appeared in the July 1983 "American Rifleman" on page 36. 11 rounds in the magazine and one in the chamber. Snapp used SWC and hollow point bullets. Neat conversion.

I think the El Tigre copy of the Winchester M92 was made in 45ACP.
