They've been doing an excellent job on rifles for ever. They don't have the glitz and glitter of Leapold and Redfield, but there's lots of rifles out there with Weaver bases and rings killing lots of game.
I've got a set on a little model seven Remington in 308 that does inch groups with a Leapold fixed four power. I've used them on several magnum rifles including a Mauser actioned 308 Norma magnum built in 1964. That rifle is now in the hands of my nephew and still killing deer and elk with those same rings and bases.

I use Weaver bases and medium height QD rings on all of my Marlin levers in calibers from .22 to 45-70 and have never had a problem. I locktite the ring screws on the 444 and 45-70 to lessen the chance of coming loose under heavy recoil.

They work.
I have some that have been in use 25 years.
